Callisto is an organization dedicated to addressing the issue of sexual assault and harassment, particularly on college campuses. They aim to dismantle barriers to reporting these crimes through their online platform, providing survivors with various options to document and report their experiences. By offering different reporting methods and utilizing an information escrow matching system, Callisto strives to identify repeat perpetrators, prevent ongoing incidents, and ultimately stop sexual assault at its source. Founded by Jess Ladd, a sexual assault survivor herself, Callisto has expanded beyond college campuses to support victims in professional fields such as technology, entertainment, and academia. Their ambition is to create a comprehensive reporting process that prioritizes survivors' needs and empowers them to understand their options. With a focus on building a sustained cultural shift, Callisto has already made significant impact by increasing reports on partner campuses and piloting new platforms to broaden their impact on preventing sexual assault nationwide. // Since age 16, I've worked to make the world better, mostly by helping people facing stigmatized sexual health challenges. I've worn many hats along the way - CEO, researcher, teacher, policy advocate, UX designer, etc. The parts of those roles I enjoyed the most was gaining a nuanced understanding about difficult problems and creating solutions with caring and dedicated fellow nerds. At age 34 I decided to take a step back from Callisto - the sexual assault nonprofit I founded - to reflect, relax, and refocus.
After a three year sabbatical, I'm beginning to look for new opportunities.
