Michele Koppes is a geographer and researcher known for her work in studying the response of glaciers, landscapes, and communities to climate change. She leads the Landscapes of Climate Change Lab at the University of British Columbia, focusing on exploring geomorphic changes and the impacts of climate change on landscapes, ecosystems, and societies. Michele's research projects include examining landscape and hazards responses to changing glacier dynamics, as well as the effects of climate change on glacier meltwater systems. She prioritizes community-based collaborations, ethical knowledge braiding, and holistic perspectives in physical geography, aiming to integrate multiple perspectives of science and knowledge while being guided by and accountable to local and Indigenous communities.
