Alasdair Harris

Alasdair Harris leads the Ocean Resilience & Climate Alliance (ORCA), a pioneering philanthropic initiative advancing transformative solutions at the nexus of ocean and climate action. A marine biologist and social entrepreneur, he has dedicated his career to integrating community-led conservation with climate resilience strategies, rejuvenating marine ecosystems while enhancing livelihoods for coastal communities. As the founding Executive Director of Blue Ventures, Al pioneered innovative approaches to local stewardship and sustainable marine resource use, benefiting hundreds of thousands across Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. He holds a PhD in marine ecology and an honorary doctorate of sciences from the University of Edinburgh, where he is also an honorary fellow in the school of Geosciences.
